Although a manager may have become a technical expert in a specialized area, they often have no formal training in management having attained the position by virtue of technical accomplishments. As a result, some managers excel in leading technical aspects of work (products, projects, processes…), but are less successful with people leadership. Instructor: Fred Meadows
Bio: The instructor studied chemistry at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University earning a B.S. in chemistry and a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Georgia State University. He has spent the last 21 years in various industries including agriculture, specialty chemicals, medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Currently, he is Senior Technical Advisor of Product Supply Management and Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls with the United States Pharmacopeia advising companies in low- and middle-income countries in all technical aspects of manufacturing. He has been instructing soft skills courses for the Rubber Division, ACS since 2020.
