Elastomer Training Center

Elastomer Training Center
306 N. Cleveland Massillon Rd.
Commonwealth Square
Akron, OH 44333

We developed a new Elastomer Training Center in 2016, which serves as a centralized location where many of our courses for students, industry professionals and educators are held. The center was created to augment our current extensive education program of online and on-site courses by adding new topics, materials and instructors, all within the organization’s headquarters building. The Elastomer Training Center is located in Suite 208 of the same building as the Division’s headquarter office.

This 32 seat center presents a comfortable, modern setting for learning about the elastomer/rubber industry and related technology. The spacious center houses state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, includes its own kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave, free wi-fi and allows course attendees to stay connected through providing three electric outlets at each seat. Coffee and muffins are provided each morning and soda, water and cookies are provided in the afternoon. The center is ideally located near several restaurants and hotels in downtown Akron.

Housing our own training facility increases efficiency and management of future educational courses, as well as benefits attendees due to close proximity of organization staff and Division resources. With the facility conveniently located on the University of Akron campus, it provides a possible space for local rubber companies to host their organization meetings and in-house training. One of the additional goals of the center is to develop a training program for high school science teachers to receive professional development hours and learn about elastomer/rubber and related technology. This will be one of our initial steps in bringing our industry directly to the classroom and educating high school students about rubber and other elastomers and opportunities in our great industry. This will help fill the need to attract the new generation as future professionals in the rubber industry.

The Elastomer Training Center is available for use on a limited basis by the Rubber Division’s authorized Subdivisions, Corporate Members and companies in our industry, with reimbursement of $350 per day to the Division for administrative logistics.
