AKRON – January 27, 2016 – Rubber Division, American Chemical Society, 411 Wolf Ledges Pkwy., Ste. 201, is excited to announce the development and unveiling of their new Elastomer Training Center. The Elastomer Training Center will serve as a centralized location where many of the organization’s courses for students, industry professionals and educators will be held. The center was created to augment the Division’s current extensive education program of online and on-site courses by adding new topics, materials and instructors, all within the organization’s headquarters building. The Elastomer Training Center is located in Suite 208 of the same building as the Division’s headquarter office.
This new 32 seat center presents a comfortable, modern setting for learning about the elastomer/rubber industry and related technology. This spacious center houses state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, includes its own kitchen and allows course attendees to stay connected through providing electric hookups at each table. At the same time, the center is ideally located near several restaurants and hotels in downtown Akron.
Rubber Division, ACS housing their own training facility increases efficiency and management of future educational courses, as well as benefits attendees due to close proximity of organization staff and Division resources. Many of the organization’s course instructors are also located within the Akron area. This offers an opportunity to reduce travel costs for instructors and staff, which in turn results in more appealing pricing for course attendees. With the facility conveniently located on the University of Akron campus, it provides a possible space for local rubber companies to host their organization meetings and in-house training. One of the additional goals of the center is to develop a training program for high school science teachers to receive professional development hours and learn about elastomer/rubber and related technology. This will be one of their initial steps in bringing our industry directly to the classroom and educating high school students about rubber and other elastomers and opportunities in our great industry. This will help fill the need to attract the new generation as future professionals in the rubber industry.
