Leadership Akron and United Way of Summit County have selected a group of 21 leaders for their Diversity On Board Program. Rubber Division, ACS Office Manager & Administrative Assistant, Gabrielle Daniel, was one of the professionals selected. The class includes participants from Greater Akron’s business, education, government, nonprofit and religious sectors. Over the course of the year, Diversity On Board participants will develop a well-rounded perspective on the Akron community, setting the stage for future board leadership opportunities. Beginning the year with an Opening Retreat, they will spend a full day each month focusing on different aspects of nonprofit board leadership to ensure participants are prepared, motivated and connected to serve on nonprofit boards. Participants will also meet with coaching groups and learn alongside active nonprofit board members who will provide hands-on experience and invite them to community-wide events. Upon graduation, the class will be poised with new knowledge, connections, and commitments to empower their service to the Greater Akron community.
For over 30 years, Leadership Akron has equipped participants for more effective community involvement and leadership. The Signature Program offers intensive study of community issues and interaction with top decision-makers, enabling participants to expand their effectiveness as community leaders. In addition to the Signature Program, Leadership Akron empowers a cross-section of diverse leaders through its other programs.
