R.D. Abbott Company, Inc. (RDAbbott) and Rubber Division, ACS, have partnered together to produce a new video called, “Rubber: It’s Not Just Tires.” The video demonstrates the significance of rubber in everyday life and was designed to introduce the next generation of workers to this extraordinary industry. The video also includes footage from The Dow Chemical Company, ARLANXEO, 3M, and HALLSTAR.

“The modern world wouldn’t work without rubber,” said Rick Ziebell, Technology Fellow for RDAbbott.  “There wouldn’t be any cars, airplanes, electricity, running water, heat, air conditioning, or cell phones without rubber technology. This new video showcases some of rubber’s many applications – and in a way that will appeal to younger workers who are seeking exciting and rewarding careers with plenty of opportunities for professional growth.”

As the new video shows, rubber is used in critical industries and supports a variety of job opportunities. The video also directs viewers to, a website where students and job seekers can learn more about the industry and get connected to companies that are seeking new talent. The website, hosted by Rubber Division, ACS, features their career center, as well as links to their student services, upcoming training opportunities and events, membership, local rubber groups.

“We are committed to facilitating professional opportunities, as well as working to make our great industry known to a younger generation. This video serves as an exciting introduction to our industry for those unfamiliar with it,” said Ed Miller, Executive Director for Rubber Division, ACS. “We want people to know about the vital role of rubber in our daily lives, that there are numerous careers available in the industry and that they can be a part of something truly great. The video achieves just that.”

Going forward, Rubber Division, ACS, plans to integrate this video into its Student Outreach Program and share with its Local Rubber Groups so it can be promoted at their events and throughout their local communities. They also encourage others in the industry to utilize the video in their outreach efforts. The video can be viewed at and on the Rubber Division, ACS YouTube Channel.
