Webinar: Elastomer Seal Selection

June 18 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Webinar Overview: With over 20 different classes of elastomers, equipment designers and plant engineers need to understand the importance elastomers have in their facility’s operations. The correct elastomer will help increase the mean time between failure (MTBF), improve safety and can help lower costs. One of the topics discussed will be how the plant engineers will need to work with the supply chain to ensure the proper elastomer is selected for the sealing application.

Topics to be covered:
• Different elastomers
• What makes a rubber compound
• ASTM D200 (SAE J200) Standards
• Factors governing seal performance
• Generic “Why Tree” on O-ring failures
• Examples of part failures
• References

Price: Free for Members / $99 Non-member

Instructor: William Stahl
William Stahl retired in March of 2023 after 45 years in the rubber industry. His focus was in the compounding and applications for fluoroelastomer polymers. He has taught several courses for Rubber Division, ACS, including Introduction to Compounding, Mixing & Testing, Compounding Fluoroelastomers and Selecting Elastomers for Sealing Applications. He is currently a consultant for WMS Technologies, LLC (Norton, Ohio).
