Mixing & Testing for Compound Consistency- NEW IN 2011
During this webinar you will be shown the economic importance to delivering consistent rubber compounds. Consistency begins with the raw material specifications and continues through the storage of the raw materials, extends through the weigh-up and mixing operations and includes the post-mixing operations of milling and preforming. Emphasis on establishing raw material specifications based upon your compounds and not only the supplier's specification. You'll be introduced the Compound Consistency Guideline as the basis for the mixer's quality system and shown the importance of having a modern, fully integrated mixing control system. Using a fully integrated mixing system will enable you to have complete traceability and allow you to demonstrate to your customer that you are delivering consistent product using consistent raw materials and manufacturing methods. You will see the interdependency of batch properties with the mixing profile used to produce the batch. You will also see the interrelated dependency of fabrication characteristics to the mixing profile. You'll be introduced to the need to establish consistency in the test protocols used to evaluate the mixed compound as well as the need test what is delivered to the customer - and the customer concept must extend to the internal customer as well as the external customer. You will see how by establishing testing of the compound based on what's important during service vs. testing what is easy and conventional; you'll better meet the customers' expectations. It will be shown that using the most simple method of listening to the voice of the process- run charts - that you can be provided with valuable predictive tools. Further, you will see that by the using these run charts you will be able to monitor the process and to make continuous strides in elimination of variation. Instructor: Joe Walker

NEW WEBINARS COMING SOON! (Late 2012)
1. Selecting The Right Elastomer For Your Sealing Application- WEB108
This webinar will review the different elastomers and how they compare to each other. We will look at chemical compatibility, thermal properties and mechanical properties of elastomers used in sealing applications. Also discussed will be how to specify elastomers for your application, service conditions to consider and 'cost vs value' in selecting an elastomer. Instructor: William Stahl
2. Compounding Of Fluoroelastomers
This webinar will give a brief introduction to the compounding of fluoroelastomers (FKMs). FKMs are high performance elastomers well noted for their heat and chemical resistance. Topics covered will include selection of the proper fluoroelastomer polymer, cure systems, compounding ingredients, processing, markets and applications. Instructor: William Stahl
3. Chemical Compatibility Testing (and Interpreting Chemical Resistance Charts)
This webinar will review chemical compatibility testing of elastomers and look at some of the different resources being used in the industry. Topics covered will include a review on the different elastomers and how monomer composition can effect chemical resistance, polymer selection and how compounding can effect chemical resistance. We'll review some of the chemical resistance charts being used and try to answer some frequently asked questions on chemical resistance. Instructor: William Stahl
4. Silicone Rubber Chemistry & Compounding- Instructor: Joe Walker
5. Laboratory Safety-
This course will review the following:
- personal protection equipment
- machine safety-mills, mixers, presses, calendars
- chemical handling-MSDS reviews-chemical disposal-labeling
- tcsa right to know
