What is the Rubber Division Library?
The Rubber Division Library and Information Services is located inside the Science and Technology Library at The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. Its resources include the books, periodicals, symposia, online databases supplemented by Rubber Division special collections and the following:
- Extensive information on rubber science, technology and business/economics, as well as general science and technology
- Books, journals, government documents and symposia proceedings are included
- Complete collection of Division meeting papers from 1933 through the present as well as other Division publications
- Supplemented by the archives from several major companies located in The University of Akron Archives, and by the Paul J. Flory collection of research papers
The Rubber Division, ACS has hired a part time librarian in partnership with the University of Akon Library. Charles (Chuck) Brady started work on April 28th and will be available for Rubber Division business every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Chuck can be reached at 330-972-7197 or . In addition to obtaining individual technical papers, full sets of meeting papers and journal articles for a fee, the librarian will be able to conduct technical and business literature searches again; however, due to this being a part time position, this will be on a first come-first serve limited basis. Individual and full conference proceedings are available as a download via the Rubber Division Online Store at www.rubber.org/store.
Additonally, if you have technical questions, you may want to post them on the Division's new technical discussion site via LinkedIn. The discussion group is called "Rubber Division, American Chemical Society".
