In June, the U. S. Conference of Mayors named Louisville the winner of the 9th Annual City Livability Awards Program, giving the city the title of America's "most livable" large city for its successes with the Mayor's Healthy Hometown Movement. During World War II, Louisville became the world's largest producer of synthetic rubber thanks to companies who still have a presence in the city today. It is for these reasons and many more that we chose this great city for our annual expo. Our EventsThis is our Mini Expo. It might sound small, but that's only because every booth is the same size so every company is on an even playing field. With over 160 booths to visit, you're sure to make new contacts, see old friends, and gain new knowledge to help your company succeed in the coming year. During the week, you can also attend our 174th Technical Meeting where near 100 experts in their fields will present their work on such topics as Advances in Nanotechnology, Rubber in Aerospace Applications, and New Commercial Developments, among others. You can register for any of our popular educational opportunities during the week as well. "Introduction to Rubber Technology" returns, and we debut "Fundamentals of Rubber Compounding", The Rules and Regulations of Workplace Safety and OSHA: Understanding, Interpreting and Complying with the Law", and "Practical Viscoelasticity". In continuing the Rubber Division's Workforce Recruitment & Development Program, we showcase the work of college and university students from around the world during the 5th Annual Student Colloquium and Poster Session, and the Student Job Fair. Support this next generation of rubber industry professionals by attending the colloquium and talking with the poster presenters. Each student is eligible to receive a $1,500 scholarship for being the best in one of four categories, and you could be one of the judges! Welcome! These exhibits, technical papers and educational opportunities help your Rubber Division ACS maintain its role as the leading membership-driven organization in the rubber industry. You can take a role in the future of this organization by joining us during one of our many committee meetings taking place during the week as well as our Business & Awards Meeting. Welcome to Louisville! Sincerely,
