2010 Membership Changes

09/24/09 Membership Updates

When you renew your membership at the end of this year, you will immediately notice two changes:

  1. Dues prices have increased and
  2. Membership is no longer calendar-based.

Dues are increasing for several reasons, but mainly to help offset the cost of new programs and services for you, our members. Programs like brand new courses being offered as webinars so you don't have to travel to attend a seminar that might be vital to the progression of your career and services like this very website with new features like customer recognition.

The elimination of a calender-based membership term allows you to renew your membership for the time period that means the most to you. When you purchase a membership, you start immediately and expire on the last day of the month prior to your initial start date. For example, if you renew on December 1, 2009, your membership will be active until November 30, 2010. This is also true if you renew on December 15, 2009, because your membership will still expire on November 30, 2010. We will, however, give you a 30-day grace period to renew.

Please note that these changes only impact the following membership types:

  • Affiliate Member Outside USA
  • Affiliate Member USA Only
  • Member Outside USA
  • Member USA Only
  • and all Student membership types.

Emeritus and Life memberships remain unchanged.

Please also note that upgrading your journal choice to include the print copy will still result in you receiving all 5 issues for the year, regardless of your purchase date. We encourage you to renew your membership and make this upgrade before April to ensure timely and automatic delivery of all issues, however.

If you have questions or concerns regarding these changes, please feel free to contact Missy Beynon, Membership & IT Manager, via the Contact Us page.
